Ingredients
- Coffee — 30g, medium grind (similar to table salt)
- Water — 500ml, cold and filtered
Suggested brew: beginner method
This recipe uses a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio for a balanced, mellow cup.
Step-by-step instructions
Prepare the filter
Place a paper filter in the basket (if your machine uses one) and rinse it with hot water to remove any paper taste and preheat the basket. Discard the rinse water before adding coffee.
Add coffee grounds
Measure out 30g of medium-ground coffee and place it in the filter basket.
Add water
Pour 500ml of cold, filtered water into the machine's reservoir. Many machines have markings to guide you.
Start the brew
Turn on the coffee maker. It will gradually heat the water and distribute it over the grounds for an even extraction.
Wait for brewing to complete
Let the machine finish its cycle, typically 4 to 6 minutes. The coffee will collect in the carafe below.
Serve and enjoy
Pour your coffee immediately to enjoy it at its best.
Troubleshooting
Weak or watery coffee
Increase the coffee amount slightly, or adjust to a finer grind.
Too strong or bitter
Use a coarser grind or reduce the coffee amount slightly.
Uneven flavour
Distribute the grounds evenly and pre-wet them before brewing for an even extraction.
